I’ve been in low-down places
When my mind just don’t feel right
Where everyone’s a stranger
And you drink alone at night

I’ve been on city buses
Been down dark country roads
Looking for a place to rest
To take things nice and slow

Who do you think of, who do you see?
When you’re far away from home, and family?

I see myself resting
On the front porch in the sun
Waving to the folks I know
Yes I know everyone

I holler to them come on by
Maybe later for a bite
They sit and rock the babies
Till the late hours of the night

No need to be fancy
No need for a show
I always try to keep them there
When its past the time to go

Who do you think of, who do you see?
When you’re far away from home, and family?

I see myself resting
On the front porch in the sun
Waving to the folks I know
Yes I know everyone
